So the month of July is almost over and I haven't created a single post - it must be because "the relatives came". That happens to be my favorite children's story book - but it is true that we had lots of visitors from mid June to the end of July. It was a lot of fun - it almost seems too quiet around here now.
In mid June we had my parents visit us. During that time we went to Leavenworth / Wenatchee because Hannah had a Washington State Music Teacher's Conference to attend. I didn't manage to get that many photos - but here's a few. We stayed at a very old cabin near Leavenworth - took in a piano performance that Hannah participated in, went to Leavenworth (listened to a yodeler for a while) and just enjoyed some quiet time away.
After that our nephew/cousin Kurtis arrived for a week and shortly after that Lorelle and Jake made it across country. We took the boat to Perygan Lake (Eastern Washington) and enjoyed four very hot days on the water. One day we spent time shopping in Winthrop - a town with an old western theme. It was almost too hot to do anything but be in the water...
After Kurtis left a Winnibego from Ontario arrived with my brother Cor and sister-in-law Debbie and their family arrived - and the fun began again. I can't believe not a single person has photos to prove it but it did happen. We enjoyed eating lots of raspberries, going for ice cream, visiting the ocean, boating at the lake and lots of nights around the fire. The kids loved having their cousins over - it was time they won't soon forget. I took them to the airport with Vincent so he could see where all the relatives were going - he can't quite figure out why new people keep coming, pay lots of attention to him and then disappear!!!
A few days after that Jake's mom arrived to visit for a few days and to drive with Lorelle back to Winnipeg. So nice to meet her and know that Lorelle has a wonderful family near her when she is away from her home here in Lynden. As I get used to the quiet again I'm reflecting on how great it was to spend time with extended family and how blessed and thankful I am to have them!!
