Proud & Thankful...
The 2011-12 school year is quickly coming to a close & that makes me stop & reflect on the growth & accomplishments that were possible this year under God's blessing and care. With kids in various levels of studies much has happened. I just opened some mail Lorelle had been waiting for. It turns out she ranked in the top 15 percent of everyone who has ever taken the Praxis Elementary Ed test and was awarded an ETS Recognition of Excellence. To be certified as an Elementary Ed. teacher in all states she needs to take and pass this test. This was very exciting news for her - another step closer to the finish line. Jocelyn was on the Dean's List last quarter and will be on it again for her second quarter which she just completed. She manages to take a full course load and work many hours - crazy girl. She just found out last week that she has mono - we're hoping it will not carry on too long. Last week we went to a Lynden Music Teacher's Association performance where two students from each teacher are chosen to perform. That afternoon 10 students were involved in a playoff where the top 2 are chosen to go to Regionals and State performances. During the evening performance they revealed the winner - Hannah was chosen as the top student to be the state representative. She was so excited and shocked - she can't wait to participate at the state music convention in June. Alec has been very busy with his school work - doing Speech Preparation and learning to video and edit. He is also learning to be our "grounds keeper" and is very motivated to earn some money doing this. He also surprised us when he went out to sell hanging baskets for our school fundraiser - when it comes to selling he does not take after his Dad!!! What motivated him were the prizes if you sold a certain amount - he managed to reach the top prize level - a fair entrance and ride pass for a day! Amazing what a little incentive will do. So that leaves Vinny - we are very proud of him because he finally learned to walk. It is SOOOO cute to see him toddle around - the freedom he now has! A little scary as we have a large property and within seconds it seems he is nowhere to be seen. Here's some photos of him on the four wheeler - I think he could stay on it all day if we let him.
